Summary: Brody, Scott Graham, has a dead-end job, a resentment of authority, and a general lack of maturity and responsibility. His ex-girlfriend is getting married, and his role as the father of their daughter is being filled by another man. Additionally, his relationship with the teenage sister of a long-time friend has alienated him from his life-long social circle. Suddenly, people begin to disappear. As each person vanishes, the world instantly changes as though they never existed at all... and only Brody remembers that they did. He soon discovers that there is a very specific pattern to the order of the disappearances, and time is running out... so he must try to protect his loved ones from forces he cannot begin to understand. Reality changes abruptly and dramatically around him, creating a disorienting spiral of events, leading eventually to an unexpected second chance at a love that ended years ago. But as each person is removed from his history, he finds that his life can become an ideal... or a nightmare.
